It’s exciting to see that E3 is still kicking. While it’s not the gigantic even it used to be, it’s still nice to get a glimpse of some of what the industry has in the chamber for us. Many strong announcements have happened at E3, and while Capcom is likely winding down (at least as far as Resident Evil is concerned), it’ll still be fun to see what they bring us.
That being said, sources claim that Capcom will be bringing many of their biggest titles to the show, and Resident Evil still seems to be among them.
What that might entail remains to be seen, obviously. There are a few things that could be on their plate right now.
Resident Evil Village DLC
This is likely the first thing to come to many fans’ minds. After all, Resident Evil 7 saw a large amount of downloadable content released during its lifespan. Between fun little minigames like Ethan Must Die and serious, story-relevant sagas such as End of Zoe, Resident Evil 7 long outlived what was expected of its lifespan.
In regards to Resident Evil Village, there’s a few things that could be done. Perhaps we’ll see a story surrounding the villagers, chronicling a single character’s survival as Mother Miranda descends upon them.
I also wouldn’t be shocked to see a story revolving around Chris and the Hound Wolf squad, especially seeing as how they were certainly present for much of the plot, even if they were out of sight.
Resident Evil Outrage
There’s also a mystery title still hiding in the wings, one that we know very little about. Courtesy of the data breach (sadly), we know of an upcoming title known as Resident Evil Outrage.
Your guess is as good as ours is on what it might be. A knee-jerk reaction would be to think it might be similar to Resident Evil Outbreak, two spin-off titles that fans have adored for years, which allowed players to experience the fall of Raccoon City with friends.
It could also be something completely unrelated. There have been murmurs of Rebecca Chambers having a game to herself in the future, though how legitimate those rumors are is still unclear. We have our own possible information of this title to share soon, whether or not it turns out to be valid or not is to be seen.
Resident Evil 4 VR
While it likely wouldn’t be as exciting as some of the other possibilities, it’s not unbelievable that Capcom might give us a bit more of a look into Resident Evil 4 VR. The Oculus-exclusive title will be bringing one of the most beloved entries of the franchise on to VR.
If this is what Capcom plans to show, it most likely would be a bit more of what the gameplay will look like. Facebook themselves have shown off quite a bit of what they’re doing with the game, but Capcom likely has more to say on the matter.
Plus, if rumors are true about a Resident Evil 4 remake being on the way, they may want to drum hype back up around the title.
No matter what they end up showing, I’m sure fans will have something to look forward to. Alongside Resident Evil, there will also be showings of Ace Attorney, Monster Hunter, and more. Hell, we may even hear some more about their upcoming sci-fi IP, Pragmata.
