After failing to receive an award in any category in the 2020 Golden Joystick Awards for Resident Evil 3 (2020), Capcom again picked up the momentum they had gained in 2019 at the awards show for Resident Evil 2 (2019).
Resident Evil Village had a VERY impressive showing in two very prestigious categories being Ultimate Game of the Year and PlayStation Game of the Year.
Capcom did a lot of marketing for the PlayStation port of the 8th major installment of the survival horror franchise including a PS5 exclusive demo called Maiden and other demos that would first be available on the latest Sony console.
Currently, Village holds an 84 on Metacritic and has sold over 5 million copies since it’s release in May with more DLC on the way at a later time.
Another impressive win goes to Lady Dimitrescu performer, Maggie Robertson, who also took home the award for Best Performer for her role in Resident Evil Village. It’s also important to note that she is also up for this same award at the 2021 The Game Awards. Best of luck to her!
Resident Evil Village also took home Best Audio, which alongside Game of the Year, is also another award the game is nominated for at the 2021 The Game Awards.
Capcom as a company also didn’t leave empty handed as the also won Studio of the Year for both Resident Evil Village and Monster Hunter Rise.
Hopefully this is a good indicator for Resident Evil Village‘s performace at the TGAs, which if you haven’t voted already, time is running out to do so. Voting closes on December 8th and the show is on December 9th, which we will be live covering on our Facebook and YouTube channels.
