This morning, the Steam listing for Resident Evil Village updated to reflect information on the new upcoming beta test.
According to SteamDB, the update occurred today, January 19th at 05:10:45 UTC. Change #10506054 contains one simple word, multiplayer.
Now, we’re all aware that Capcom is having a closed beta test for a new and until recently unannounced Resident Evil multiplayer on consoles at the end of the month, but what wasn’t clear is that if it was a standalone game or tied to Resident Evil Village.
Information from the massive hack Capcom suffered last summer had hinted that there’s a strong possibility that it will be a mix of both an online mode for Resident Evil Village, but also a separate title as well.
Which might be because of fan reaction to Resident Evil 3 and Resistance being package together and for Capcom to test the waters on how a standalone Resident Evil multiplayer will play out.
Other than that, we know from the Resident Evil Ambassador emails that the multiplayer will support 4 to 6 players so the possibilities are endless for what style the modes for the game will be.
We’ll likely learn more on what this beta and the full game will entail at the Resident Evil Showcase Capcom is hosting this Thursday, January 21st at 2:00PM PST.
