I’ve come around on Fortnite. I used to be like most other people, hating it for the simple reason of “kids like it”. Lately, though, I’ve found myself softening about it.
Why gatekeep video games? We had the likes of Halo 2 and Black Ops, why rob newer generations of that?
It’s not like Fortnite isn’t trying its best, either. Epic Games has made it a collecting bowl of every series and genre, inviting the likes of Master Chief, Kratos, and more to the battle royale.
We can thank a Fortnite-heavy Twitter page, @MikeDulaimi, for sharing screenshots of this survey. On it, Epic asks those taking it about a large list of characters (and some real people too) that people might have heard of. There, amidst the likes of Spiderman and Joker from Persona 5, Resident Evil Village‘s Lady Dimitrescu awaits.
While I’m sure there’s plenty of you who will scoff at this notion, it’s a no-brainer to me: more eyes on the franchise, more sales for Capcom. If asked to be part of what is unmistakably the biggest gaming community around, any business would jump at the chance.
I personally don’t play the game, but even I’ll admit that a Resident Evil event of some kind might see me logging a few hours, if only just to see what they do.
Regardless, until we hear more from either Capcom or Epic Games, Lady D will have to stay lurking in the upcoming Resident Evil Village.
