Do you live in the city of Greater Sudbury, Ontario, and have seen zombies on the prowl?
Don’t worry, you’re not crazy.
For the past week and until close to the end of the month, the untitled Resident Evil reboot film has been filming around the city.
The latest Resident Evil is being shot at locations throughout Greater Sudbury, including the Flour Mill, Hanmer and the city center.
The city has been a set piece to multiple film projects and city officials are happy that productions are returning to help the local economy.
I am very pleased to be able to celebrate the return of film and television production here in Greater Sudbury.
Mayor Brian Bigger
This isn’t the first time that a Canadian city has stood in for Raccoon City. Toronto was used in the first two Resident Evil movies to represent Raccoon City and the city skyline used in the Resident Evil 2 remake is actually Montreal, Québec.
Producers of the film have recently stated that the reboot will be an origin story set in 1998 and is scheduled to be released in cinemas worldwide in 2021.
