Most are more than pleased to see the year eventually come to an end as 2020 comes to a close. Few could have anticipated just how awful the year would have ended up being for everyone, but Resident Evil 7: Biohazard seems to have hidden an unsettling retrospective easter egg that looks very sinister!
There are some eerie books on a bookshelf in the Baker Mansion, such as Murder in Cleveland and Heartless Betrayal.
The one that stands out from the rest of the pack, though, is one simply named 2020. At the time, fans wouldn’t know it, but the book would prove to be even more frightening than the rest!
The discovery was shared by No Context Resident Evil, and the picture can be found in the Tweet embedded below.
With the advantage of hindsight, it’s always fun to look back on easter eggs like this one! What inspired Capcom to place 2020 on one of those book spines in Resident Evil 7 is unknown. The company may have been trying to hint at a potential game in the series.
The Resident Evil 3 remake was released this year, so it seems doubtful that, explicitly, the company was hinting at that game.
It seems that the developers left what would end up being the most horrible Resident Evil 7 Easter egg of all, regardless of what the purpose may have been!
