The Resident Evil 3 remake is bringing us a new look for the eponymous Nemesis. It’s a clear reassessment of the design principals from its time period.
Talking with Official Xbox Magazine, producer Peter Fabiano spoke on the way the thought process for Nemesis formed, specifically on how Mr. X changed the game.
“The director looked at what they had done with the Tyrant in RE2,” Fabiano said, “and was like, ‘Wait a minute! They’ve Nemesis-ified him!’ So it was like taking it that one step further – we needed to make Nemesis ferocious and a real threat, and I think you’ll feel that when you play the game.”
Likely, the way Mr. X operates as a consistent, ever-running program will give Nemesis a nice starting point, systematically. His consistent presence is basically guaranteed.
Perhaps they can apply some learning principals, like those found in Alien: Isolation, to make Nemesis more capable of adaptation?
Either way, the ever-looming likelihood of a demo means that soon, we won’t have to wonder.
