Director Johannes Roberts of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City has revealed that the iconic Mr. X was supposed to be in the upcoming film but was cut.
Mr. X, best known to fans as the nightmare-inducing force of nature from the Resident Evil 2 remake, was in Roberts’ plans, but he couldn’t make the character work. An Easter egg was also planned, but it appears that it almost didn’t make the final cut.
I just couldn’t find a way to put in Mr. XJohannes Roberts
He went on to tell Comicbook that, “There is a nod. It’s tricky to see in the shot and I was like, ‘Just use that shot,’ but it doesn’t work in the movie.”
Roberts also added that, “With a movie, you have to actually tell a proper movie rather than just use the shots that you want.”
