It’s no longer just Raccoon City feeling the pains of the Umbrella Corporation as Resident Evil comes to Monster Hunter World in an epic crossover event.
Capcom’s Resident Evil 2 crossover event for Monster Hunter World is now live across all platforms, bringing more just cool rewards, but also zombie-themed gameplay features as well. RE: Return of the Bioweapon is the self-contained special event quest featuring all of the new content. For the brave New World explorers wanting to get their hands this special armor, they’re going to have to carve away at this limited-time quest in order to obtain the necessary items.
How the Event Works
First, you’ll need to own Monster Hunter World‘s Iceborne expansion. The quest is only available when you have access to the Master Rank difficulty (rank 20 is the minimum).
When the hunt begins, you will have to defeat a Blackveil Vaal Hazak in Rotten Vale. Sounds easy, but this wouldn’t be much of a crossover if there weren’t Resident Evil themed modifiers thrown into the mix. The main one being the ‘Zombiefication’ debuff. If you become afflicted with this effect, you’ll be reduced to basically a walking corpse. You will only be able to shamble around and talk with moans and groans.
Of course, this affliction isn’t ideal, but this wouldn’t be a Resident Evil event without the main staple of the series- Red and Green Herbs. The herbs can be found during the mission and used to remove Zombification. Also, before you eat, combine both for a full heal!
Finally, you just simply need to defeat Vaal Hazak and harvest its corpse as you would on a normal hunt. However, instead of the usual materials, you’ll receive S.T.A.R.S. Badges. From there, you’ll take these back to the Smithy in town and craft your own Leon α and Claire α Layered Armor sets.
You have until December 5th to obtain all the rewards. Good luck, Survivors -errr, Hunters!
